Autumn flowers silk

This gorgeous piece of silk is perfect for dressing up or down. Featuring a palette of autumn blooms in colours from auburn to cinnamon on a deep roast background, this will work for any number of dress designs, or tops and skirts…see the collage below.

I’ll call it a silk taffeta because it has a slightly stiff hand, but it is not quite as heavy and stiff as the true taffetas.

If you want to soften it up, give it a handwash in a mild soap. I wash all my silks.  But, given it has some structure, this fabric would work perfectly with more architectural cuts.

This piece of fabric is 113cm wide and 2.8 metres.  The price is $27 per metre/$75 for the piece, much cheaper than I paid for it! I will be able to send this in a small satchel for $8.25.  Please see here for full details of payment and posting.  If interested, please just click the email link below.

This fabric would be perfect for a dress inspired by one of Marni’s wonderful examples.  I have just written a post about how Marni (Consuelo) tackles cutting and why she handles large print fabrics better than anyone.  See here.  There are a couple of Marni dresses in that post that would also work really well with this fabric.

Here are a few other ideas…
