Blue blooms on pale pewter Armani silk SOLD

If I am fanatical about the fabrics of any one designer in particular, it would have to be Giorgio Armani.  He sources only the best wools, the best silks, the best blends such as linen/viscose mixes.  And true to form, this silk is just stunning…

The design is just a dream and the silk is so, so beautiful.

In the shop where Tessuit is now located in Surrey Hills there used to be a shop called Fabric Fantasy, which some of you may remember.  I swear there were tears flowing all over the country when the owners announced they would be closing the shop.  The place used to be stuffed to the brim with the best of the top European designers…the French and Italian were prominent.  So that place is where I picked up this beautiful Armani silk.

This silk consists of a lighter base fabric in the dreamiest pale pewter/silver colour, which itself throws out the softest luminosity.   I’m actually not sure how this fabric would have been engineered.  The blue flowers and the stems are certainly yarn dyed so the fabric weaving, with such large flower features, would have required a special loom setup I think.  Then it appears that the flowers have a sort of applique effect to them, as if they have been stitched on.  I just can’t think how this fabric has been woven!  But it is very special.

I’ve taken so long to post this because I have seen Armani dresses made from this fabric and I was trawling way back to try to find some images of it.  Alas, the search was not fruitful.  But perhaps you will see the unmistakable Armani aesthetic with this fabric anyway.

This Armani silk is 155cm wide, and the length is 1.7 metres.  I remember that this silk cost $60+ a metre, and that was a while back.  A comparable price now would be much higher.  In the interests of keeping my fabrics accessible, I will price this at $45 a metre/$76.50 for the piece.  I can send this fabric in the small satchel at $8.25. Please see here for full details on payment and posting.  If interested, please click on the email link below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
