GONE NOW, THANK YOU
I really hope this silk appeals to someone as much as I have loved this. For a start, it is one of my favourite colour combinations, brown and pink. Second, I just adore the graphics and the large scale of the print pattern.
I have declared my devotion to the designer Marni elsewhere in these pages. Consuleo Castiglioni is the best in the business for cutting large scale patterns without looking like Marimekko wall art and volume without looking like the proverbial tent.
Not that there is anything wrong with either of these except it can be overwhelming for a human, especially those on the smaller scale. (I actually adore Marimekko!)
But I always know that I can take ideas and inspiration from Marni when it comes to some of the fabrics and prints that play with the graphics like this one.
So this is how Marni does large stripey prints. See?
Just an idea! The key to working with such a pattern is just to chop into it and not worry about the pattern placement too much. It will all take care of itself and doesn’t want to be too matched up anyway.
This fabric is a lightweight silk with a bit of transparency. It is a designer piece from the NYC garment district, carefully selected. It has distinctly different surfaces. One has the sheen of a charmeuse, very soft, silky and shiny. The main photo above shows this side. It caught the light a lot when I was taking photos. The reverse side is matte. The colours are darker and flatter. I prefer this side myself. There is no right or wrong side, it all depends on your preferences.
The silk is 143cm wide and the length is 2.6 metres, lots of scope to cut into this however you might want. The price is $25 a metre/$65 for the piece.
I can post this in the smallest satchel (with tracking) at $8.25. Please see here for full details on payment and posting. If interested, please click on the email below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
