GONE NOW, THANKS
Moving quite a few more silks along now, including this very excellent silk crepe de chine.
The print features happy bursts of deep red and blues, and secondary lavenders, orange and white against a soft teal blue background in a wonderfully balanced pattern.
This silk is very soft, lightweight but opaque, very fluid, so it will be perfect for garments with volume, gathers and so on. The print is double sided, with the wrong side only slightly more faded than the right side, so you can consider reversible cuts, uneven hems and the like.
This is the type of silk that I would happily hand wash. The crepe de chines always come out very well. But do test a slither of fabric first so you see for yourself the washed fabric. And, don’t be deterred about sewing silk. It is much easier than some people might imagine. I will do a post on success in sewing silk soon.
Again, you can do just about anything with a fabric and length like this…obviously tops and skirts, dresses as shown below, but this piece would look fab as a kimono to throw on in the morning, a simple sarong wrap or easy going drawstring pants. But back to the dresses…
Sorry that this image is a bit out of focus…not my finest shots, but it is too dark now to re-do them and I’d rather put more than less images up even if they aren’t perfect.
So, this silk is 117cm wide and the length is 2.4 metres, so this is a perfect dress length. The fabric price is $22 a metre/$53 for the piece. I can post this fabric in the small satchel for $8.25. Please see here for full details on payment and posting. If interested, please click on the email link below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
