Designer cosmos silk GONE

GONE NOW THANKS

Here is a Phillip L!m silk and this is a new type of silk for me too.

Apart from the great good luck to have visited the NYC garment district many times, one advantage is to be exposed to so many different fabrics types that you ordinarily don’t encounter in the stores.  It makes me realise that I have to expand my fabric knowledge when I have no idea what to name the types of silk.

I can even show you the image of the fabric is its original habitat.  Here it is in the garment district shop I bought it from, the wonderful Fabrics & Fabrics at West 38th Street, way up on the third floor, occupying just about the whole floor I think.  You have to be prepared to spend a lot of time once you go in that place because the fabric collection is beyond vast.

Obviously I have a lot of fabrics.  But I’m just looking through all the photos now of the fabrics that I didn’t get from F&F and marvelling at my restraint because there are some I can’t believe I walked away from.

But, resuming posting business.  This silk is a light to medium weight silk.  When I say “medium” I mean that having reference to blouse/dress silks, not suiting fabrics.  The silk is completely opaque and has a weave that resembles a twill but is not, with a crepe-like texture.  The fabric has great body and movement.  Tops, skirts, dresses would all be great.  Phillip L!m did very short dresses, thus.

I see a colourful cosmos in this print, with constellations of reds, blues, greens, grey, off-white and orange against a black background.

The silk measures 112cm and the length is 2.6 metres.  The price is $25 per metre/$65 for the piece.

I can post this in the smallest satchel (with tracking) at $8.25.  Please see here for full details on payment and posting.  If interested, please click on the email below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
