Fuchsia, mushroom and teal art nouveau silk SOLD

GONE NOW THANKS

Sigh.  I’m letting go of a very favourite.

This is a much loved fabric that I bought in NYC a few years ago from one of my favourite shops on West 35th Street…way up high.  The best shops in the garment district are not on street level, just remember that if you ever intend to visit.

So the print is what seems to me to be an art nouveau influenced design.  The fabric is a light silk.  It has a flatter looking surface, like a cotton, but is definitely a silk.  It is not lightweight like a habotai or a gauze, it is more like a slightly thicker voile.

I have had a hard time capturing the true colours in these photographs.  The fabric is much, much better in real life.  Actually, the colour is intense, but it is deeper, more saturated, more muted.  There are two interacting palettes, a muddy khaki basic with navy, brown and mid blue.  Stylised fuchsia and red petals burst out of these fronds.  The colours are simply superb.

You can make anything – dresses, tops, skirts.  If you have some spare fabric you could even cut a scarf and sew a rolled hem.

This silk is 140cm wide and the length is 2.8 metres.  The price is $28 a metre/$78 for the piece.

I can post this in the smallest satchel (with tracking) at $8.25.  Please see here for full details on payment and posting.  If interested, please click on the email below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
