Leaning towers stunning stretch

Sigh.  Yes, another dearly hoarded piece up on offer.  How cool is this one…

Now, to describe this fabric.  The base fabric is a gauzy stretch fabric, I’m not sure the composition, but it is probably a man-made fibre.  As a light honeycomb sort of texture, the fabric does have a transparency.  You can either make this a feature of your garment, or use this as a layering piece.  The next image shows the folds and you can see the surface features from this.

The print features alternating bands of black and light grey.  Against the black background leaning towers of layered cubes in light grey rise up.  Against the light grey, in the background are cream towers, like a distant skyline, and then the most wonderful feature, superimposed leaning towers of black felt cubes.  It really is such a fantastic surface feature.  It was these felt cubes that I thought made this fabric really special.

I got this fabric from a really wonderful local fabric store that specialises in high-end fabrics, mostly designer.  I’m not sure where it came from but I’m guessing Italy, as a lot of this stores fabrics are sourced from there.

I do remember seeing a dress made from this fabric. I think it was a sort of asymmetrical looser number, making the most of the affect achieved by draping a print with stripes and columns.  It would make a fabulous skirt…topped with a simple black T-shirt.  Or it would make great top…wear with everything.

You can see from this image how nicely the fabric drapes and falls into folds.

So this fabric measures 145cm and the length is 2.6 metres.  I don’t remember the exact price I paid for this piece…per metre it was well into the 40’s if not more as it is a designer piece.  But I am trying to offer bargains, so I will price this one at $32 a metre/$83.20 for the piece.

As a stretch fabric, this would be perfect for tops, in which case you wouldn’t need the full length.  I would consider cutting this length in half, but would prefer to have both pieces accounted for before cutting the fabric.  If there are a couple of takers, the price for each half would be $41.60.

I’ll be able to send this fabric in a small satchel at $9.40. Please see here for full details on payment and posting.  If interested, please click on the email link below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
