Milly spider mums silk charmeuse SOLD

NOW GONE, THANK YOU

This was a Milly favourite from a few years back, a fabulous silk that sort of suggests an oriental influence with the print pattern, hence the spider mums reference, but that could be just a rorchach test thing going on.

I think this is quite a complex print, very stylised.  I especially like the light grey halo and the ghostly-like effect of the black twigs, barely discernible in the background. I think I would play on this by finding a way to add plain black contrasts to the fabric, maybe with contrast neckbands or entire sleeves if making a top or dress.

But I would probably opt for a skirt in the end and aim for something fluid, with a different cut to it, or layers, draping…something to really play up the wonderful qualities of the fabric.  And then wear an simple black pull-on top with it.

All of Milly’s fabrics are great quality.  This silk is a substantial but lightweight one, it has a wonderfully soft surface, with a light sheen.  The fabric is completely opaque.
