M!lly developed a series of link print fabric from small to large scale and based a whole range around them. This silk comes from that range.
(There’s a glare spot in this image I didn’t notice before, sorry about that, not my finest image but I hope it still serves the purpose).
Here are a few of the different link prints and the garments. The one of offer here is depicted on the left. I wonder if this fabric is a slightly smaller scale version, I’m not sure, I find it hard to tell.
This M!lly came from the NYC garment district. Milly uses a lot of silk twill, so it is obviously a preferred fabric. The twill weave on this link silk is very fine. I was almost tempted to call it a crepe de chine, but under the light you can see the twill weave, and the fabric surface is more matte than crepe de chine.
I’ll spare you the other images that all seem to have a bit of glare and show you this close-up instead.
This piece is 140cm x 2 metres. The price is $25 a metre/$50 for the piece.
