I’ve looked and looked at this silk and still remain entirely unsure whether I should describe the pattern as a woodgrain or marbled effect. Maybe it can be both…
The colours in this print are glorious…the background is a deep blue-black with cobalt and indigo swirls and some white “top-notes”.
The fabric is another great crepe de chine. The silk is lovely and soft, lightweight but completely opaque. You could make a breezy dress or skirt and not have to worry about a second layer or lining at all. The weave is very dense which gives the fabric some weight and body…it is very fluid, and will be perfect for garments with volume.
There are blue dresses galore around for inspiration at the moment…here are just a few…
This is a dress length of fabric, though of course you can do anything with such a versatile fabric, absolutely anything, including separates that will carry from one thing to another. I really like the idea of some nice loose drawstring shorts with a white top tossed on.
This piece is 115cm wide and 3.4 metres in length. The fabric price is $22 a metre/$75 for the full length. I can post this fabric in the small satchel for $8.25. (Australia delivery only thanks).
