Or paint daubs silk/cotton voile? I can’t decide whether this description might better describe the fabric…but let’s call it both.
I fell on this fabric in a swoon when I saw it in that fabric store in the NYC garment district that every fabric lover in the world would be in the mood to visit sometime in their life.
For a start, the colours are just so pleasing, this teeming mix of avocado and khaki and cadet blue and clay and dove, depicted in soft streaks of colour. Of course, this palette is fantastic for the Australian light. And with the silk content in the fabric, there is the hint of sheen that will play up to the light so well.
As a silk/cotton voile, this fabric is lightweight. If you stood with the sun shining behind you, yes, you would see right through this fabric. But the pattern is dense enough that if you made a shirt or top, you wouldn’t need to have another layer underneath.
Speaking of tops, something a bit floaty or with a bit of ease like one of these tops?
This piece measures 140cm x 2 metres. The fabric price is $23 a metre/$46 for the piece.
I can post this fabric in the small satchel for $8.25. Please see here for full details on payment and posting. If interested, please click on the email link below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
