This piece is a little beauty. It is not all that often that you see the silk double georgettes around, and with such a gorgeous print design too.
Georgettes are a great fabric to start with…that lovely crepe surface, fantastic body and movement. Double all these properties and you end up with a lovely fabric to work with, especially when adding some volume, folds, gathers and so on.
The base colour is an off-white to cream colour, from which abstract blooms explode like fireworks in dull red, mute blue, a smudge of khaki and black. I’m sure I have seen this fabric used by a well-known designer but I can’t remember who.
This fabric is 115cm wide and 2 metres in length. The price is $24 a metres/$48 for the piece.
