Spice market silk GONE

GONE NOW THANKS

The colours in this silk are glorious…pomegranate, aqua, saffron, lime, persimmon, amber, on an off-white base, with dark scrolls linking the medallion patterns.

The pattern and colours certainly make me think of those spice bowls in the markets and bazaars…like an aerial view of them.

This is a lightweight silk, close to a chiffon, but a little bit more opaque than that.  The fabric lends itself to swishy, drapey tops, with gathers perhaps, simple shapes.

Or, here’s another idea, you could also turn this fabric into a couple of scarves, hand-rolling the edges.  What perfect gifts for someone — made with your own handiwork, but not a commitment to a full-on garment.  In fact, reflecting on it, the fabric would make exquisite scarves.
