SOLD NOW, MANY THANKS
I got this cotton from a local specialist fabric store and know that it came from one of the Australian designers at the time. Looking over it again now, I wonder if it might be a Japanese cotton.
I know it was a quality cotton (with a price). I can see now that the Mums (chrysanthemums) have been stylised and become a repeating pattern in the background, while cherry-blossom type stems (though not quite cherry blossoms) appear delicately over the surface. It is most certainly Japanese inspired.
This cotton is about the weight of quilting cottons. The fabric weave it quite interesting. It is comprised of alternating boxes, one a plain, fine weave, the other a raised-surface basket weave effect. The background colour is the palest possible yellow with contrast colours in ochre, honey, wheat, white and khaki. It is a beautiful cotton.
This fabric is 112cm wide and the length is 2.3 metres. I can’t remember what I paid for this fabric except I know it was not a cheap cotton. I think I paid at least $30+. I will offer it here for $24 a metre/$55 for the piece.
I can post this in the smallest satchel (with tracking) at $8.25. Please see here for full details on payment and posting. If interested, please click on the email below; fabric details will appear automatically and I will get back to you asap. (Australia delivery only thanks).
