I'm a mad fabric collector but I've gone a bit overboard, so I've started this blog to re-home some gorgeous, top-quality fabrics at really great prices. The fabric face is a lustrous soft silk, almost like the feel of a duchess satin, and the reverse side is a cotton backing. (more…)

This silk crepe de chine is straight from a shop on West 35th Street. The fabric stores start to become thin on the ground by the time you get to 35th, but there were a couple of new places last time I went, with this beauty waiting for me. (more…)

Animal print fabrics are always in fashion, but they are just huge at the moment, with no sign of waning in popularity. This fabric is a fantastic piece. It is an ex-designer fabric and superb quality with a cotton/silk/lycra blend.
This print is a super-stylish snakeskin print.

Another beautiful quality silk from a New York designer in lovely rich and saturated colours.
I think this fabric also recalls the work of another top designer, at least I had this in mind when I got the fabric.

This silk hails from the Italian mills, and is the perfect fabric and length if you want to make a shirt or top, (but wide enough for other garments too). This is a woven fabric, not a stretch/t-shirt fabric, but the lycra content adds that extra versatility to the fabric.

I had a hard time choosing which fabric to post first! But, taking the leap with this lovely cotton because the weather is warmer and this is just the most perfect piece of fabric for a spring skirt (pleats?), top or dress.
I bought this fabric in the NYC garment district. It is an ex-designer fabric, may have been J Cr*w. It certainly has that American sportswear look about it. (more…)
Black/grey/bone tribal graphics scuba fabric SOLD
GONE – THANK YOU!
This fabric is soooo fashion-forward. This is scuba fabric, which has also been called neoprene, although scuba is lighter and more refined than the neoprene. Even though I’m putting this fabric up for sale, I’m still wildly in love with it, and I do think this black, grey and bone graphic pattern is one of the very best scuba fabric patterns I have seen. It is so cool, so sophisticated.

I love this cotton/lycra but I’ve got a long list of other fabrics lined up ahead of it so I’m being strict. The dark teals and blues work magnificently together in this print, tinged with cinnamon and dusk.

I see a perfect little dress every time I look at this fabric, though being a perfect weight silk, so much else is possible.

Or paint daubs silk/cotton voile? I can’t decide whether this description might better describe the fabric…but let’s call it both.
I fell on this fabric in a swoon when I saw it in that fabric store in the NYC garment district that every fabric lover in the world would be in the mood to visit sometime in their life.

Continuing with these wonderful quality viscose/lycra stretch fabrics, here is a really fun print…a black and white base reminiscent of tribal/totem symbols, brought alive by splashes of red, blue and yellow.
This one, like the others, originates from the excellent French mills.

I think this is a print that can work for all ages. It is not overly sweet for an adult but then again it is not too sophisticated for a child.

I haven’t posted plain colour fabrics before on this site. Prints are so easy to make interesting to the eye on a website; plain fabrics can go completely unnoticed. But if you are a fabric connoisseur, please do take a moment to have a look at this divine Osc@r de la Rent@ fabric.
Actually, that is a Chl0e dress there on the left from the pre-Fall collection that came out just weeks ago, not Osc@r, but shows just how gorgeous this colour can look, and it is definitely a colour of the season. (more…)
Octopus’s garden viscose/lycra stretch SOLD

Time for some more pieces of great quality stretch, this time a viscose/lycra with a stylised underwater scene with shells and corals framed against a wonderful blue background.
