Hi and welcome…a quick word about this blog…
I'm a mad fabric collector but I've gone a bit overboard, so I've started this blog to re-home some gorgeous, top-quality fabrics at really great prices. Mostly ex-designer fabrics from places like New York's garment district and Milan's fabric mills, and mostly single pieces. Please see the 'About' and 'FAQ' at the top of this page for more info. Silk/lycra charmeuse monotone paisley print SOLD
SOLD NOW THANKS
A classic paisley pattern made modern by the scale-up of the design and offered on a silk/lycra charmeuse.
There is a lovely amount of stretch in this particular silk, about 10%, and with perfect recovery.
M!lly link print fine silk twill SOLD
GONE NOW THANKS
M!lly developed a series of link print fabric from small to large scale and based a whole range around them. This silk comes from that range.
It’s Milly Feathersssssss…. SOLD
SORRY – IT’S GONE
Alrighty, this is possibly one of the most popular of all the Milly fabrics, with simply unbelievable jewel colours in a stunning digital feathers design.
This is a silk charmeuse, and it’s a dress length, and I suspect trigger fingers will be needed.
Anne K1ein tropical jungle silk/lycra SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS GONE NOW, THANKS
You know some fabrics come along and you just want to pet them all the time? This wonderful Anne K1ein silk is one of them.
Whether it’s the lustrous surface, the slightest suggestion of crinkle texture or the spring of a bit of lycra, this silk demands to be stroked. (more…)
Delicate flowers dusky purples silk charmeuse SOLD

So whimsical this design; charming detail, intricate bouquets, but beautifully subtle.
Cream & black dot & stripe silk SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS GONE NOW, THANKS
This is a lovely, classic silk with just a bit of difference in the pattern and the silk quality…a lovely crinkle silk that gives the fabric that little bit of wearing ease.
This silk is opaque and has a lovely weight and drape and feel. (more…)
Stunning nippon inspired silk crepe SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS GONE NOW – MANY THANKS
Ok, this is one of my most favourite and guarded silks and I have been carefully hoarding it for ages. But now, its time has come.
I certainly have a penchant for the Japanese inspired fabrics. Once again, the Japanese textile imagery is the heart of the design, with the ever-popular Mums dominating. (I have several incredible vintage kimonos. The embroidery is unbelievable. I will take some photos and do a post soon).
Marbled animal print montage silk/viscose SOLD
NOW GONE, THANKS
Do you ever wonder how designers come up with a certain print? I do, this one more than many others. It is a little bit of a crazy print when you dive in the detail…
…this marbled montage of cheetah and leopard prints and dissected views of agate and andalusite all swirled around each other like coffee trails in cappuccino froth. Who thinks of that sort of combination? (more…)
Glorious nippon peacocks silk charmeuse SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS NOW SOLD – MANY THANKS
Sticking with the Japanese theme for a moment, I got this simply divine silk charmeuse in Tokyo. There were a few of us at the counter and this roll was passed around. Pieces just from this few minutes went to Germany, the UK and back here to Australia.
Silver and pewter op-art silk shantung SOLD
SOLD NOW THANKS
Here is the first of a few more dressy fabrics I’ll be putting up.
This is a really exquisite quality silk. It is a sample piece from the studio of a designer. (more…)
Technicolour techno-print plaid montage silk crepe de chine SOLD
NOW SOLD, THANKS
It’s a colour riot and it totally works!
This pattern alternates bands of smaller-scale plaid patterns in lime, chartreuse, chalk and accents of pink and burgundy (43cm repeat) with longer bold strokes of fuschia, periwinkle and oyster based plaids (48cm). (more…)
Summer sunset striped silk SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS GONE NOW – MANY THANKS
I saw a photo in a magazine of the striped top worn by Giovanna Battaglia, included in the collage at the bottom of the page, and went in search of some striped silk so that I could produce a top like this.
I thought it was one of the most stylish uses of stripes I’d seen in a long time…there was just something about it. (more…)
Lightweight silk/cotton with antique gold roses SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS NOW SOLD – MANY THANKS
I have held on to this piece for soooo long…I just love it so…but finally, I’m relinquishing it.
This to me is a delicate and romantic and whimsical piece of fabric just calling out to be a lovely dress. (more…)
Naeem Khan emerald greens silk/lycra charmeuse SOLD
SOLD – MANY THANKS
This silk went like wildfire and by the time my name in the queue was reached there was just a remnant left.
But oh what a glorious remnant it is!
Mums oriental blooms lightweight silk SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS NOW SOLD – MANY THANKS
The starting point for the graphics in this beautiful silk are Japanese kimono motifs, like the many Mums (chrysanthemums), though the references are not especially literal and the imagery is completely modern.
This silk has a slightly crinkled surface effect which adds a subtle dimension to the fabric, and I have to say, the colours are simply delicious, very warm. (more…)
Dramatic designer silk-cotton black & white panel print SOLD
SOLD NOW, MANY THANKS
You won’t seen fabrics like this one come along all that often. This is a sensational panel print from NY design C S+effe.
The fabric face is a lustrous soft silk, almost like the feel of a duchess satin, and the reverse side is a cotton backing. (more…)
Anna Sui scrabble silk crepe de chine SOLD
GONE NOW THANKS
It’s a classic with a twist, a lovely chequerboard print in classic black and white, populated with simple but witty graphics, and just enough colour to keep it from being too conservative.
Pale shell pink dandelion silk/lycra charmeuse SOLD
GONE, THANKS
Sticking with the more understated colours/prints for the moment, this truly beautiful silk/lycra now has an outing.
This is an interesting print. I think it basically takes the form of a repeating panel although there is no discernible start/finish line for the panel. (more…)
Delicate dreamy tie-dye silk charmeuse SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS SOLD NOW, THANK YOU
Oh this is lovely! I really think that they…whoever is responsible for this print design…have done such a good job.
The print of this lighter weight silk charmeuse simulates a tie-dye effect, repeating the dreamy colours of soft gold, silver, ecru and platinum tones, shot here and there with an accent of graphite. (more…)
Anna Sui purple abstract silk crepe de chine SOLD
GONE NOW THANKS
I have two pieces of this silk, otherwise I wouldn’t be letting it go.
This silk crepe de chine is straight from a shop on West 35th Street. The fabric stores start to become thin on the ground by the time you get to 35th, but there were a couple of new places last time I went, with this beauty waiting for me. (more…)
NY designer snake print cotton/silk/lycra SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS NOW SOLD – MANY THANKS
Animal print fabrics are always in fashion, but they are just huge at the moment, with no sign of waning in popularity. This fabric is a fantastic piece. It is an ex-designer fabric and superb quality with a cotton/silk/lycra blend.
This print is a super-stylish snakeskin print.
Multi-coloured ‘techno’ graphic silk charmeuse SOLD
NOW GONE – MANY THANKS
Another beautiful quality silk from a New York designer in lovely rich and saturated colours.
I think this fabric also recalls the work of another top designer, at least I had this in mind when I got the fabric.
Italian blue flowers silk/lycra charmeuse SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS NOW SOLD – MANY THANKS
This silk hails from the Italian mills, and is the perfect fabric and length if you want to make a shirt or top, (but wide enough for other garments too). This is a woven fabric, not a stretch/t-shirt fabric, but the lycra content adds that extra versatility to the fabric.
Orange blooms twill weave silk SOLD
THIS FABRIC IS GONE NOW – MANY THANKS
I see a perfect little dress every time I look at this fabric, though being a perfect weight silk, so much else is possible.
It was a really sunny day when I photographed this fabric last week and the sun was catching the folds of the fabric and highlighting the colours. (more…)
Stunning designer antique/burnished gold silk brocade SOLD
I don’t have many fabrics for dressier occasions but this has been my prized piece since I got in in the NYC garment district many years ago.
It is such an exquisite fabric that I haven’t ever felt justified in chopping into it for what would probably be just one wear…now it is time this piece had a much more appreciative home. (more…)
Stunning silk charmeuse with red, white and blue flowers on navy SOLD
GONE, THANK YOU
Oh my gosh, the quality of this silk is sensational.
And so is the print design, the graphics…it’s just captivating! (more…)
Pewter snowflakes on ice blue silk SOLD
GONE, THANKS
The snowflakes are primitive and spidery renditions, but that’s what I think of when looking at this fabric…a pale blue sky full of falling snowflakes.
