Ok, so this one is special. It will probably go very quickly, if the interest expressed behind the scenes is any indication, but it is worthy of a longer post.
First, it was a big-time catwalk design for Th@koon from a couple of summer seasons ago.
Now that I’ve had this fabric in my possession for a while, my own opinion though is that his designs didn’t really show off the beauty of the fabric. I have never had a fabric of this quality before, and wonder if I ever will again. It is a 4ply silk crepe. The weight and handle of this fabric is incredible. Whatever you make – from shifts, to flowy things, palazzo pants, whatever – the fabric attributes will make it such a winner for you.
Second, of course, is the extraordinary print, a wonderful large-scale paisley in a happy yellow base with red and orange contrasts, punctuated with cool ice blue adornment highlights. It is beautiful, just beautiful. The pattern is large scale, though as the Th@koon images show, you can cut a smaller garment really effectively with the large scale pattern. Note, the yoke in these dresses is in a different colourway of this fabric.
Let me tell you, I nearly climbed over other people to get to this fabric and not very much of it was released either, so this is quite exclusive. I had to have it! I loved having it every single minute, but now I know it is going to be more appreciated in someone’s else’s hands.
There is tons of fabric here. It is 140cm and there is 3.15 metres of fabric. With this one I will include all my own costs in getting this fabric which includes the currency conversion plus the cost of posting it home, but I am still pricing on a cost recovery basis. So the price of the fabric is $55 a metre/$173 for the piece.
